The doors to the ballroom swing open, and Bruce's hand around his glass freezes abruptly. I stand in the light, watching the shock and ecstasy surging in his eyes. "Sophia? You're alive!" He staggers toward me, only to be stopped by the bodyguard at my side. "Mr. Shaw, you've mistaken me for someone else," I say in a cold tone. "I'm an overseas investor." His eyes turn bloodshot as he snarls and breaks free of the bodyguard: "Impossible! I guarded your grave with my own hands! It's you, it has to be you!" "So what if it is?" I step closer to him. "When you sent me to hell, did you ever think I'd come back?" He trembles all over, stammering out an apology: "I'm sorry, Sophia, I know I was wrong! About the child..." "Don't mention the child," I cut him off sharply. Footsteps sound behind me. Daniel claps my shoulder lightly and glares at Bruce defiantly. Bruce's gaze snaps to Daniel, his face draining of all color: "You're behind this? You've known each other all along?"
